ECNEC okays 11 projects involving TK 2, 318cr

The Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC) with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina chaired on Tuesday approved 11 development projects where TK 2,318 crore, including the construction of inland container terminal in the port of Ashuganj at a price of TK 246 crore.

Answering a question said Planning Minister that container terminal in the port of Ashuganj self-interest of the country would be built for the add India may use the port in the future by paying taxes or fees.

The project is promoted by the Bangladesh inland water transport companies in the shipping department. The total project cost TK is 219 crore from India's $1 billion line of credit, while TK 27 crore from the Government Treasury be worn.

The project started in January of next year and will be completed by June 2013. After completion of the work, the port will be used TRANS delivery system to India type.

The ECNEC session approved three projects of the railway sector under $1 billion Indian credit line.

These are the procurement of 30 BG diesel-electric locomotives (TK-608 crore), procurement of 10 sets (3 units in 1 set) of diesel electric train for the Bangladesh railways (TK-331 crore) and procurement of 100 MG bogie wagons and 5 MG brake of vans including brake equipment for transporting fuel for aircraft (TK 77 crore).

Approval of other projects in the session, and machine readable passports visas in Bangladesh introduction of the machine readable (revised) project (TK 479 crore); Construction of deposit man hanger including artificial grass for indoor training at the BKSP (TK 44 crore); Construction of swimming pool and gymnasium in Gopalganj SADAR, development of Sheikh Kamal Stadium, repair and renovation of the old district Stadium and the construction of women sports complex (TK 98 crore); Construction of two new district stadiums in Chuadanga and habiganj district, further development of the four quarters stages and two women sports facilities (TK 98 crore); Development of Jessore science and Technology University phase 1 (TK 39 crore); and establishing PTIs the Jhalakathi, Shariatpur, Narayanganj, Lalmonirhat, Gopalganj, Dhaka, Sherpur, Meherpur Bandarban Khagrachhari, Rajbari (248 crore); and construction of 8 PC Prometheus bridges and 2 RCC box channels on different km from Hemayetpur Singair Manikganj Street (TK 50 crore).
